Became an infantry officer and here I am. I was a mortarman. FAST [fleet anti-terrorism security team] Company. Been a forward observer with 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines. 81’s platoon. 2nd Platoon has been with Kilo the whole time. We started, when we first got here, up in the village of Al Shahabi, which is to the northeast of Fallujah, by about six miles. We started out there just patrolling the village, looking for weapons caches, trying to instill some security, in that area, searching out insurgents.
