Battlefield Fallujah: About Author Dick Camp


Colonel Richard Camp entered the U.S. Marines in 1962 as an infantry officer, serving in the 1st Marine Brigade in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He eventually served as company commander during his time in Vietnam, and would see action several times, particularly at the Battle of Khe Sanh. After 25 years with the Marines, he retired as a Colonel.

Dick Camp is the author of Operation Phantom Fury: The Assault and Capture of Fallujah, Iraq and Lima-6, his memoir as a Marine infantry company commander at Khe Sanh.

He is the author of Leatherneck Legends: Conversations with the Marine Corps’ Old Breed and has published more than 60 articles in various military-oriented magazines, including Vietnam, World War II, Marine Corps Gazette, and Leatherneck.

Camp is the former vice president for museum operations at the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, overseeing the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle, Virginia.
